“To be or not to be?” Now, that is the question, isn’t it?

Hello all of my beautiful blog readers!!! It is Tuesday which means I am in Oregon and it is storming right now!!!  So I am stuck inside but at least it gives me time to write a post! Obviously I have been on a serious 90’s kick lately (well when am I not on a 90’s kick honestly) but I decided to switch it up a bit and turn the focus to one of my other passions which is film. I, like most of you, absolutely LOVE filling my free time with watching movies. My question for you is how many of you knew that some of the movies you were watching were ACTUALLY modern renditions of Shakespeare plays? I am sure if you were Shakespeare fans like me then you caught on pretty quick (or if maybe the movie shared the same title lol) but there are a lot of people who paid NO attention during English class and really had NO IDEA. This sparked my interest and brought about today’s post.

Let’s start with my absolute FAVORITE modern day Shakespeare movie adaptations:

r&j2Everyone should know this movie. If you don’t then you need to stop reading this and go rent it. RIGHT NOW. I’m serious. Anyway while those of you who have clearly been living under a ROCK are out doing that lol the ones who have seen it can continue reading. Why is this one of the greatest film adaptations of all time? Where do I even begin… For starters Baz Luhrmann is the director and his resume speaks for himself. If you don’t know who Baz Luhrmann is *shakes head*then I am happy you are at least reading this post because he is brilliant and you should really check out his work.  He is most notable for what is called “Red Curtain Cinema” which is seen in Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge, and Strictly Ballroom; all three films open with a Red Curtain (similar to if you were at the theater) and allow the audience to understand how the movie will end from the opening sequence. They are made up of the same plot: unlikely couples who fall madly in love, and although all three are completely different movies, they are known as “The Red Curtain Trilogy”.

What makes Romeo and Juliet so magnificent is that while it is a modernization of Shakespeare’s play it still retains the original Shakespearean dialogue. And while you think that might seem so weird, considering everything else appears to be in that current 90’s time except the way they are speaking, it actually isn’t weird at all. I barely even noticed it and thought it would be weird done any other way. The changes made from the original play to the modern film were done so beautifully because they all still went together as if it were the same.

For example: The rival families in the movie were simply just two warring business empires, one run by Montague, the other run by Capulet. This helped bring about understanding to what the families were feuding over (since back in Shakespearean time those feuds were over things we just wouldn’t fight over now).romeo2

Also, they couldn’t very well have a sword fight in the middle of a beach and have it make sense, but the guns that took their place were labeled “Dagger” and “Sword”. The fierce competition between the companies was obviously spread down to the younger relatives within each family (just like in the play) only the younger boys are depicted almost as if they are in Gangs.capuletmontague

Another modern aspect of the film was of course when Mercutio has invitations to sneak the Montague Boys into the Capulet party and he gives Romeo Ecstasy. Luckily it was a costume party of course and also holds one of my all time favorite movie scenes: The Fish Tank.

That is where they fall in love at first sight and shortly after discover, how do they put it, “My only love sprung from my only hate”. I am sure you all know the rest even though this movie does a really beautiful twist on the whole thing. From the costume and set design to the casting (I mean Paul Rudd and Jamie Kennedy? So great) to the soundtrack which includes Garbage, The Cardigans, and Radiohead who Baz Luhrmann actually requested to write a song for the film. The band was sent the last 30 minutes and Tom Yorke said “When we saw Claire Daines hold the Colt 45 against her head, we started working on the song immediately”. The title is “Exit Music (For a Film)” and although it wasn’t released on the movie soundtrack (at the bands request) it was later released on Radiohead’s album: “OK Computer”.

Okay moving on to the next (I promise the others won’t be as long):

EVERYONE who is ANYONE knows this movie. It was the first movie we all remember seeing that beautiful Australian actor for the first time. Heath Ledger. Add to the mix the little Joseph Gordon Levitt! Yeah you all know him but he is not so little anymore!!! Julia Stiles was the star girl (which you will see how many much she loved doing these Shakespeare remakes) and Andrew Keeegan if you can remember him at all.

In case you all watched this movie a million times with no idea that is was an adaptation of a Shakespeare play I will help you out right now. Remember reading The Taming of the Shrew? Well, this lovely film was the modern version of that, only minus the Shakespearean dialect and plus tons of teen angst. They’re all in high school, there is one sister who can’t date until the other (Stiles) does, so the popular guy (Keegan) pays the outcast guy (Ledger) to take her out. The plan backfires and Ledger falls for Stiles and Joseph Gordon Levitt gets the other sister. YAY! Of course no one can forget the memorable 10 Things I Hate About You poem at the end *tear*.

Let’s see what else do we have….

Oh yeah! Remember Hamlet? I would hope you do considering that is where I got the title of this post from and it is probably the most well known line from Shakespeare EVER! Okay so here is another great film because similar to Romeo & Juliet, it is set in modern times, but holds true to the Shakespearean dialect. Hamlet is played by Ethan Hawke and Ophelia is played by Julia Stiles (yep there she is again). Hamlet is a film student in New York and his Uncle takes over as CEO of the “Denmark Corporation” by killing their father. Bill Murray and Casey Affleck also make appearances in the film and subtle things are replaced with modernization (ie. instead of carrying actual flowers Ophelia carries around Polaroids of flowers because she is an amateur photographer).

As I said before about Julia Stiles loving these movies….

Here she is again in the modern day version of Othello. Mekhi Phifer plays Odin James (Othello), or OJ, and is star of the basketball team. Stiles plays Desi (Desdemona) the dean’s daughter and Odin’s girlfriend. Hugo (Iago) is the coach’s steroid-addicted son, played by Josh Hartnett, who plants seeds of doubt in OJ’s mind that leads them all to a violent fate. Roderigo is Roger who has a crush on Desi and easily manipulated by Hugo. Andrew Keegan, another Shakespeare fan apparently, is in this film also as Michael Cassio (Cassio) just another basketball player and friend.

This movie is pretty messed up with the plot of convincing Desi’s dad that Odin raped her and slowly taking everyone else down with him so that he can finally have his “day in the spotlight” as he puts it in the voice over in the end. Not a bad movie if I do say so myself, although I am a fan of the original story, Othello is a difficult one to top. It was also intended for release around the time of Columbine so had to be delayed for two years.

These last two I am going to do all together and pretty quickly because in my opinion they aren’t really worth talking too much about haha.

Shes-The-Man-Twelfth-NightWe will start with She’s the Man which was inspired by The Twelfth Night. It stars Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum and centers around the plot of Viola entering her brothers school in his place but falling for Tatum in the process. Viola gets cut from the girls soccer team and the sexist coach will not allow her to play with the boys so she poses as her brother who is in London and not returning to school. Later on she comes clean and is allowed to stay on the team. Yay.

Lastly we have Get Over It loosely based off of A Midsummer Nights Dream Kirsten Dunst plays Kelly (Helena), Mila Kunis, and Shane West plays Striker (Demetrius). Other actors include Ben Foster, Sisqo (I know it’s hilarious), Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, and Martin Short. get over it

Thus concludes my post on the modern film adaptations of Shakespeare’s most famous works. I definitely recommend Romeo & Juliet if you haven’t seen it yet. Hamlet and O are on my list of recommendations as well! I think it is safe to say you have all seen 10 Things I Hate About You and as for the others… That brings us back to my title. Obviously it is from Hamlet… But my question is: Do you think that some of these film makers should have butchered Shakespeare by making some of these awful films? I didn’t even include the Disney Channel original movie Motocrossed (another adaptation of The Twelfth Night). So let me know what you think, which movies were done well and respectfully to Shakespeare and which movies, in your opinion, were not.

The only way to be turned off to being famous… is to be famous.

Happy Monday everyone. I know no one likes the start of a new work week but hopefully it will go by fast! Today was just like any other day, which means I spent most of it on twitter, which inspired this blog post.

As I browse through today’s tweets from the Celebrities I follow I noticed something that left me a little curious. These famous people have like thousands, some of them even millions, of followers on twitter. They tweet something and get like a BILLION comments from total strangers around the world. Now obviously that is their fan base and their is nothing wrong with that, however, it is still a little bit intense.

For example: Justin Bieber tweets something and within seconds has 13k comments. And not just any old comments either… CRAZY things like how much they love him, would die for him, and etc. When I say love I don’t mean normal fan love, I mean they LITERALLY think they are in love with him, and live their life just wishing for him to follow them on Twitter.

Now I know what you are all thinking. Who cares right? They’re famous, they make millions of dollars off of these people, they probably love the attention. What got me so curious was wondering if they really do enjoy it or if sometimes it kind of freaks them 3ca18beb3d71dab06c6789cea055f305out. I put myself in that position and think “yeah it would be cool to be in movies or sing on stage, inspire people and make a difference in some lives” I mean who wouldn’t want a little bit of that in their life? But then I think about sitting down at my computer and checking my twitter to see 13k comments similar to the ones I listed above. I honestly think I would be kind of freaked out. All the body guards in the world wouldn’t make me feel safe from some of the die hard fans out there that would literally do anything for a chance to touch me. No Thank You.

Here is an even better example of the pressures of fame: Harry Potter. Yeah, yeah, I know he is a fictional character. Doesn’t make it any less true. He was famous ever since he was a baby and he grew up living with the heavy burden of having to prove himself and never let anyone down. He had people who wanted to destroy him, people who envied him, and people who were jealous of him. Obviously there was more to the story than that but you get where I am going with this. Harry Potter definitely had a more stressful life being famous than if he was never famous at all.

Why The Vampire Diaries is one of the best vampire shows that has been on TV since True Blood

Happy Tuesday everyone! It pretty much feels like Monday to me since I had yesterday off work (thank you Presidents Day) so I am definitely having a tough time keeping focus and staying awake. I hope everyone had a good weekend and holiday, if you also had the day off, and are ready for the return of The Vampire Diaries!

Okay so I am not sure how many of you out there watch this show and I am sure the ones who don’t are probably thinking that it is some stupid teen Vampire show similar to Twilight. If that is what you are thinking let me tell you I thought the exact same thing and boy was I wrong. My sister has been trying to convince me to give this show a chance for like EVER it seems like and I just kept telling her there was no way in hell I was going to watch it. When it comes to Vampires I am super particular about what I watch, especially since the author of Twilight totally butchered the the traditional ideals that have been around since Dracula, I mean honestly who does that woman think she is? Anyway that is why I was so hesitant in giving this show even a moment of my precious time (because my life is just so busy).

Over the Thanksgiving holiday I had a four day weekend and was still without a car at the time so I was prepared to spend all of my time at home watching Netflix. I couldn’t think of what to watch and went to my sister for a suggestion which is where she brought up The Vampire Diaries again. Before I could even argue she said “Look I promise you that this show is nothing like Twilight and if you just give one episode a chance and honestly hate it then I will never bug you about it again”. So I gave in and watched an episode and I was hooked. I spent the entire holiday weekend watching the show and pretty much finished all four seasons by the time work started up again.

vdiariesThe show definitely stays pretty true to the history of Vampires: need to be invited into a house before being able to enter, ability to compel (known as glamor in True Blood), witches, werewolves, doppelgangers, and even has Originals and tells you a story of how the Vampire race was created. No sparkling in the daylight, actually no going in the daylight at all, unless you’re friends with a witch who can put a spell on a piece of jewelry for you to wear (if it ever comes off you’re toast). The best part is that for being on the CW it is surprisingly violent and sexy, way more than I imagined on just a regular cable program, which definitely held my interest. Oh and the hot cast of characters doesn’t hurt either (both guys and girls) and the soundtrack is pretty impressive.

Another great thing about this show is that from it came the spin off show The Originals which is brand new and is the entire focus is on Vampires who were introduced to us in The Vampire Diaries as the Original family. It is also set in New Orleans which is great because who doesn’t love a show about Vampires filmed in Louisiana? They even continue to inter-mingle characters from both shows into episodes from each show, it is seriously brilliant, and gives me two separate nights of watching great shows with super hot actors.

Still not convinced? See for yourself. I seriously dare you to start watching season one of this show and not get hooked. Especially for the True Blood fans out there, we all know how much we loved it when it came out but honestly it has really gone down hill the last few seasons, and we need a new Vampire show to get our blood pumping! This is the one I promise!

“I think I might have inhaled you
I can feel you behind my eyes
You’ve gotten into my bloodstream
I can feel you flowing in me”

Even the best fall down sometimes…

Hello everyone. Sorry it’s been so long, but if you read my last post then you know I have been busy with some personal stuff, and I’m still pretty busy so I may not be able to post as often as I would like.

Well a lot has happened recently. I am sure all of you have read or heard about the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman. What a tragedy. I, myself, am a huge movie fan and I have just loved everything he has ever been in. It really makes me sick, like déjà vu with Cory Monteith all over again (even tho obviously they do not compare in their careers as actors) it still affects me just as much. To think that living with so much talent, adored by so many fans, he still died all alone. At the hands of such a nightmare of a drug.

“Rock bottom is an inability to cope with the commonplace that is so extreme it makes even the grandest and loveliest things unbearable…Rock bottom is everything out of focus. It’s a failure of vision, a failure to see the world as it is, to see the good in what it is, and only to wonder why the hell things look the way they do and not some other way.” -Prozac Nation

Obviously it’s a dark time for me right now, death is difficult for everyone, and we all deal with it in different ways. One thing I can say is that no matter what demons you may be facing, just remember you’re not alone, even if you feel like you are. I get that it’s hard to see how the decisions you make can affect the people around you but they do. So just stop and think.

“What you feel only matters to you. It’s what you do to the people you say you love. That’s what matters. That’s the only thing that counts” -The Last Kiss

You love, love, love… When you know I can’t love.

Hello everyone. Well I spent the day watching my favorite movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s so I decided to write a post about not only how lovely it is but how much I relate to not only Audrey Hepburn (in all her classy glory) but also her character Holly Golightly.

20140127-013925.jpg   At first glance when you meet Holly you see a girl who is superficial only going after rich men because she wants to use them for their money. But if you look a little deeper what you find is a girl that is just scared to let any man get too close, she doesn’t want to fall in love, and risk losing her identity in someone else. I think a lot of girls can relate to that. Especially those of us who are independent free spirits, the mere thought of being tied down, makes us run for the hills.
But of course the bottom line is that if we live in fear then we won’t ever really get to experience what great love could be in store for us. Right?

“You know what’s wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You’re chicken, you’ve got no guts. You’re afraid to stick out your chin and say, “Okay, life’s a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that’s the only chance anybody’s got for real happiness.” You call yourself a free spirit, a “wild thing,” and you’re terrified somebody’s gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you’re already in that cage. You built it yourself. It’s wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.”

Why I love American Horror Story, and why you should too!

Well it is Thursday everyone which means yesterday was Wednesday and THAT means American Horror Story [Season 3] Coven was on! I am not sure how many of you do or do not watch this show but in my opinion it is one of the most unique shows out there. Ryan Murphy basically created a show where each season focuses on a set of specific fears or supernatural ideas, however, he uses the SAME actors each season to play different characters! He can do this because each season is like it’s very own show, they do not go in any order, nor do they coincide with one another. It is amazing especially if you are like me and sometimes miss a season of a show (you don’t need to watch the previous before the new one starts). He also adds new actors to the original cast to keep you on your toes so you don’t get too bored seeing the same faces.

amerhorrotitleSo, let’s start with Season One, shall we? There is no title to this season. It was the first one so it was just called American Horror Story, but the theme was Murder House, and it took place in present day Hollywood. Most people couldn’t get through it because they found it too confusing. You see, although it was set in present day, it continued to flash back to different time periods to tell a story of every family who lived in the house at one point in time. Reason being that the house was cursed and if you died on the property your soul would be trapped in the house forever (so there were a bunch of ghosts roaming about). Also, the ghosts can choose who can see them and when they want to be seen, so that confused some people as well. All in all it was a rough start for the show but honestly if you sit through it and pay attention it really was a pretty decent season. Some well known actors too: Jessica Lange, Evan Pearson, Dylan McDermott, Zachary Quinto, Kate Mara, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga (most know her older sister) I mean the list goes on.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I was destined for great things. I was going to be somebody. Person of significance. Star of the silver screen, I once thought. But… my dreams became nightmares. Instead of laurels, funeral wreaths. Instead of glory, heh, bitter disappointment. Cruel afflictions. Now I understand. Tragedy was preparing me for something greater. Every loss that came before was a lesson. I was being prepared” -Jessica Lange (Playing Constance)

Now for Season Two: Asylum, which has been my absolute FAVORITE so far. The theme of this season was a Catholic Insane Asylum (hence the title). It starts out in present day with the Asylum being abandoned and a young couple entering to explore while on their honeymoon of “exploring the top haunted locations in America” or something. As the show actually starts it takes place in the 1960’s I believe and it goes forward from there with no flashbacks (making it less confusing) only periodically some flash forwards to the present (where the show originally picks up). Now the whole set of this season is by far the best, I mean the Asylum itself is so dark and creepy, and then to top it off Jessica Lange as a bitchy Nun? I mean it is just pure genius. Some new actors were added to the cast including: Adam Levine (small part), Joseph Fiennes, and Chloe Sevigny. The storyline is much easier to follow and definitely has more depth to it from aliens, to mental patients, and it wouldn’t be a Catholic Asylum without an appearance by Satan himself. Not to mention you have Zachary Quinto playing a sexy psychiatrist (yum). The best part was that it continued to stay on one path the entire show even with all the different sub plots going on and it all somehow ties together in the end so you are not left anything short of satisfied. HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. (Warning: it is more graphic than the first season and there are some scenes that some people I have talked to said they could not watch, so keep that in mind, but I really loved it).

“All Monsters are Human. You are a Monster.” – Jessica Lange (Playing Sister Jude)

Finally on to Season Three: Coven. This is the one that is currently on TV right now and I am sure you can guess that it is OBVIOUSLY about witches. It begins in New Orleans in the house of Delphine LaLaurie (look her up she is based on a real person). This was the time of slavery and she used to torture and kill her slaves, some even say she was an Elizabeth Bathory type woman who thought their blood on her skin could help her keep her youth. This character is played by the one and only Kathy Bates and let me tell you she does such an excellent job. In this same opening you see one of her slaves that she tortures is the lover of a famous practitioner of Voodoo, Marie Laveau, also based off of a real person and played by Angela Bassett. Now although these characters are based off real people remember that the story is not entirely accurate. From there the show moves forward to 300 years after Salem where witches have been forced into hiding due to fear of being found out and killed. A school is opened in Louisiana for young witches to be safe and to learn about their magic and etc. The new actors added to this season (in addition to the ones listed above) are Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, and of course the White Witch herself: Stevie Nicks. Obviously in all stories of witches and covens there is a counsel and in this shows case a Supreme who is played by Jessica Lange (who else?) and the entire show takes place in the present day besides maybe a few flash backs when discussing where they came from and their past, etc. This season has two more episodes left and although I am enjoying it very much I still stick with my original favorite which is Season Two.

“I am a Millennial. Generation Y. Born between the birth of AIDS and 9/11, give or take. They call us “the Global Generation.” We are known for our entitlement and narcissism. Some say it’s because we’re the first generation where every kid gets a trophy just for showing up. Others think it’s because social media allows us to post every time we fart or have a sandwich for all the world to see. But it seems that our one defining trait is a numbness to the world, an indifference to suffering. I know I did anything I could to not feel. Sex, drugs, booze. Just take away the pain. Take away my mother and my asshole father. And the press, and all the boys I loved who wouldn’t love me back. Hell, I was gang raped, and two days later I was back in class like nothing happened. I mean, that must have hurt like hell, right? Most people never get over stuff like that, and I was, like, “Let’s go for Jamba juice.” I would give everything I have or will ever have just to feel pain again. To hurt.” -Emma Roberts (Playing Maddison Montgomery)

As far as Season Four goes: Rumor has it that the theme will be Circus and I gotta tell you if that is true then I can only imagine what kind of freaks await us!

All I know is that I am utterly shocked that Ryan Murphy is also the creator of Glee (even though I do love that show as well) it is just odd to me seeing as the two are just so completely different!!! If you have not started this show yet then I suggest you start watching! Season One and Two are both on Netflix. I hope I didn’t give away any spoilers for you but I am pretty sure nothing I said is going to ruin anything in any of the seasons for you. If you already watch it then enjoy the last two episodes of Coven, and Remember: On Wednesdays, WE WEAR BLACK!

Why Harry Potter is better than Twilight

Happy Thursday everyone! I cannot tell you how happy I am that tomorrow is Friday, especially since I have a three day weekend, thank you JML Law Group! Recently I have found myself meeting other Harry Potter enthusiasts like myself and I know all of you have known this blog would come you just didn’t know when. Instead of writing an entire post dedicated to my undying love and devotion to Harry Potter (even though I could write for days about it) I decided to also include my views on Twilight and how the two relate/differ.

For those of you who know me, or read my “Dream Proposal” blog, it is obvious that I am a die hard Harry Potter fan. Like I am absolutely positive that the reason I have still not received my acceptance letter to Hogwarts is due to the fact that I have changed addresses so frequently and I have faith that one day I will get one. I am not sure how many of you went through a somewhat turmoil childhood, but for me, adulthood came way too quickly. My love for Harry Potter is not just about being a fan it is about holding on to a piece of my inner child. When I was a young girl witnessing the destruction from divorced parents and rebellious older siblings there were times where I felt so alone in the world that all I wanted was a way out. Harry Potter books gave me that. When I read that first book I connected so much with the character of Harry Potter that I was able to leave the miserable world I was currently stuck in and escape into this remarkable world of a child whose life was no picnic either. A child who had nothing to do with the cards he was dealt in life yet no matter how much he lost or how hard things got he never gave up. Sure he had his “life is not fair” moments, he even had times of “what’s the point”, but those are what made him even easier to relate to. Then you have his best friends, Hermoine and Ron, who stick by him no matter what but even have moments of doubt that challenge their friendship. You also get a chance to grow with all of the characters and with those two especially you get to watch a true romance blossom between best friends who spend half of the books fighting it until they finally give in. Harry’s love for his best friends little sister which creates the awkward issue of “how do I tell my best friend whose family practically adopted me that I am in love with his younger sister?” People do not realize that once you get past the first two books/movies of them being very young children, the movies begin to get darker and more adult, basically how real life is. There is so much depth to the characters, you really see how much time and energy the author put into these books, it is truly remarkable. Even the villain has a detailed back story to show you how he came to be and his connection with Harry runs so much deeper than what you could ever imagine. As for the other “villain” type characters (ie. Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape, etc) there are even huge moments where you see them struggling over the choice of good vs evil and right vs wrong and you begin to understand the inner demons they are battling. JK Rowling even gives you a lovely twist when the “good guy” Headmaster’s skeletons are revealed from the closet and even he becomes more human as you see his selfish and power hungry faults. To sum it up: the book is written in a way for you to grow with the characters as they struggle to find true friends, true love, and most importantly to find themselves. In a world that is filled with manipulation and fear these characters stand together for what they know is right to make the world a better place for themselves and for the future, which the author kindly gives us a glimpse of (19 years later which is a number chosen to ensure the readers know that none of them had a teen pregnancy).

Speaking of teen pregnancy, lets talk about Twilight. Now I will have you all know that I read all of the Twilight books with an open mind and even saw the movies despite my extreme hatred of Kristen Stewart. My initial problem with these books was that the author took it upon herself to completely change an entire tradition of Vampires. Like okay I know Vampires aren’t real, but it doesn’t mean you can just decide that they can sparkle when they go in the sunlight, ugh gag me with a spoon. Also, I get that they are teen romance novels which is why the plot totally sucks, but why on earth would you want the leading female character to be so freaking weak?! I am sorry but there is no way in hell that I would want my daughter to read a book that teaches you to live your entire life for a man that you have known for a month. All these girls tell me “aw but it is a love story, they are just so in love, she just can’t live without him”. Bullshit. The guy breaks up with the girl because he feels causes more harm than good so the girl doesn’t eat, doesn’t sleep, doesn’t speak for months and then she starts to do outrageously dangerous suicidal acts JUST to hear the assholes voice in her ear? That is not love okay that is insanity. Oh here is another good life lesson for all the young women out there: even if you can never see your family again when you marry your boyfriend at 17, who cares, you love the guy. Does no one else see how wrong this crap is? There is nothing wrong with the female lead of a book or movie to fall in love with the dark tortured male lead, but at least give her a little bit more of a back bone, I mean come ON! And to top it off you cast that emotionless bore of an actress to play the role? If you want to do something like that at least cast someone like Megan Fox so I have someone nice to look at! And as for Mr Edward, he did Harry Potter BEFORE Twilight, his character died, but we all know where he came from!

I will end this now with an intense urge to re-read and re-watch all the movies over my three day weekend haha. Hope you all enjoyed my rant, feel free to comment and let me know which side you’re on, unless it is Twilight because I don’t want to know that. Hahahaha just kidding!

One of the Many Reasons I HATE Heroin…. and Other Drugs too…

bf4ea587b03762c6c958272526dc5b50Hello friends and fellow #Gleeks Lol. This post was inspired by the sneak peek of next week’s Glee episode: the Tribute to Cory Monteith (RIP). I won’t lie to you guys, the clip was like fifteen seconds long, and my eyes were already welling up with tears.

I know what you’re all thinking: “wow this girl is so lame” and yeah, I don’t really care what you think about the show Glee, I have watched it since season 1 and I absolutely LOVE IT. But it seriously isn’t even about the show. I mean yeah because I watch it I fell in love with his character, Finn Hudson, so yeah maybe it hit me a little hard. But it mainly got to me because it was such a complete and utter shock that he struggled with a heroin addiction. Of course once this happened I discovered how open he was with his past of addiction and struggles and his multiple attempts at rehab, but I just never really kept up with the media until recently, so I just never knew. And I know that celebrities are just like us and have the same problems and difficulties but it was just really hard for me to imagine, especially since I am just so used to seeing him on Glee or out dating his on screen girlfriend Lea Michelle, looking so happy and carefree. I think the worst part about this whole thing for me is the fact that there was actually a DEBATE on whether or not there should be a tribute episode for him on Glee due to the circumstances of how he died. Like there was a poll on the news for people to vote on this. I was so shocked at the world for actually having that as a discussion topic. Who the eff cares HOW the hell he died, he freaking DIED. Like for people to actually treat a death like that just because it was a drug overdose makes me sick. Drug addicts are people too and they have every right to be mourned and remembered. There was even controversy over Jane Lynch, fellow Glee co-star and well-known actor (40 year old virgin, etc.) and her tribute to him at the Emmy’s, even though the main purpose of her delivery was the dangers of addiction! It is just mind blowing.

This situation just added to my list of MANY reasons I HATE HATE HATE that drug, I have seen SOOOO many bad things happen to so many good people because of it and it makes me so angry I could just scream. I know all drugs are bad trust me, I have reasons for hating all of them, I have just seen a lot of friends fall far because of this one and it makes me so sad.  When I went to rehab I met so many amazing people who just touched my soul you know? It just breaks my heart to think some of them could be out there using again, and the thought that ANY of them could really hurt themselves scares me beyond belief, it honestly keeps me up most nights. That is the worst part about overcoming your addiction: knowing that there is nothing you can do to save anyone. It just eats me up inside, that there are people out there struggling the way I have struggled, or even in worse ways than me, but I have to sit here knowing there’s nothing I can do. Trust me I have spent most of my life putting others before me, focusing all my energy on trying to fix them, but it never works. It just made me feel worse in the end because no matter how hard I tried nothing ever made anything better. But I will tell you one thing: if in the tragic event something horrible happened to one of my friends due to their addiction, you can be damn sure that I will give the most heartfelt speech, and I will do whatever I can to make sure that they are remembered.

To all my friends out there that I have met along my rocky path, I hope you are all doing well, and just know that I am always available to talk. If I am at work or something just text or leave a voice mail, because I care about ALL of you, and I miss you all so much! And to those of you that I do not know who may be dealing with similar struggles, do not wait until it is too late to get the help you need, life is way too good to give up!

Stay strong everyone.

Celebrities, and that High Horse they sit on.

Hey Blog Readers!!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post, I have been VERY busy!! The Law Firm I work at has joined a Softball League which is very fun but also time consuming, and then over the weekend I got to catch up with old friends at dinner AND go to Disneyland which was very fun but exhausting!

My Blog today is going to be about Celebrities. Last Friday I went out to lunch with some coworkers at Kabuki Sushi in Woodland Hills. I discovered it on yelp, the sushi is very good and the prices are pretty decent, all in all I was very happy with the choice in restaurant. While enjoying our meal I glanced up at the host counter and noticed a tall lanky guy in a baseball cap and glasses waiting to be seated with his girlfriend. Now many of you know that I am a HUGE movie buff. Like a lot of my friends call me the human IMDB because I know so much about actors and directors and movies and etc. So right away I recognized this guy as McLovin from Superbad. I immediately turned to my coworkers and told them and we got all excited and pulled out or phones trying to sneakily snap a photo. He caught sight of us and whispered something to his lady who turned our way then stepped RIGHT in front of him blocking our view. After a few moments the host walked up and directed them to a table in the back of the restaurant out of sight.

The duration of our meal we were stuck on the top of famous people and how annoying they are. I mean honestly is it really that big of a deal to let a few girls get a photo of you from across the room? It is not like we ran up to you and interrupted your lunch screaming and begging for pictures. Some say “well I imagine it must get pretty old everywhere you go someone wants a picture, you can’t even go out to lunch without having someone point you out” and I would love to agree with that. However, you’re a freaking celebrity! I am sorry but no one forced you into being famous! You chose to have that career and you know what comes with the territory, and not to mention, you make MILLIONS of freaking dollars! I am so sure people wanting pictures is that much of an inconvenience to your luxurious life! I just went to the movies last week and spent $26 dollars for my sister and I to see a movie that we could have EASILY waited for it to come out on RedBox and seen it for $1, but no, I am a major supporter of Cinematic Adventures and I very much appreciate actors, directors, producers, cinematographers, etc and all of their talent. So I spend the money so that they can develop coke addictions and get DUI’s in their lambo’s and all I ask when I see an actor out in about is that I can snap a photo on my cell from 20 feet away and THAT is too much to ask of you?! Don’t get me wrong, I know that Tabloid Magazines and Paparazzi are totally annoying, if you see me climbing a tree overlooking your back yard you have EVERY RIGHT to close your blinds and maybe even call the police. But in a restaurant from across the room? COME ON! GET THE EFF OVER YOURSELF! Your job is to entertain and be in the public eye, sorry that you aren’t allowed a private life but I am pretty sure the millions of dollars you receive should pretty much make up for all that.

This ordeal during lunch got me so heated I was even tempted to just approach his table, take a seat next to his stupid girlfriend, and say “Hello there, sorry to bother you, but I actually write my own blog and my next one is going to be about self entitled celebrities and how their egos are so bit that they can’t even fathom allowing a few photos to be taken of them when they go out to eat even though the people taking them are the ones who help provide the actors income. Any thoughts?” Of course my coworkers wouldn’t allow me to do this, but trust me it was really hard not to, it took like everything in me to just walk out the door after my meal hahaha.

Anyways, thank you for your patience for this blog, I apologize for the delay. Hopefully I can purchase a new laptop soon so I will be able to write more frequently because doing this on an iphone is really difficult!

My TV Series Addictions

Good evening blog readers! Tonight after I enjoyed a delicious meal of home made taquitos, my brother introduced me to a new TV show, Game of Thrones. And let me tell you, after one episode, I am already hooked.

I am sure many of you have experienced this. TV series nowadays are just so effing good it is almost impossible to stop watching! And with Netflix and Hulu there is almost no chance at a social life (on the edge of your seat at the end of an episode? Don’t worry just press next and you can sit back and relax.) My biggest problem lately is that shows I would normally never take time out of my life to watch on normal television become extremely appealing on Netflix. Perfect example is: Pretty Little Liars. If you have never seen this show (which I am sure most of you haven’t) it is about four high school girls who are being stalked and tortured by an unknown person (who goes by A) the years following the death if their best friend. Now, I wish I could just admit to you that as horrible as this show is I just really enjoy it and I don’t care what you think, but I really don’t! It is seriously awful and I hate myself with every episode I watch, but every time it ends, in some suspenseful way, I find myself clicking play next episode! At this point I am on season 3 and there is only one season left to go so I figure I may as well just ride it out so that all of this wasn’t too much of a waste of time.

I find myself in awe of how absorbed I get watching these TV series, whether good or bad, especially when half of a day goes by and I’ve gotten nothing accomplished but half a season of Desperate Housewives or Grey’s Anatomy (and yeah I actually think those are the good ones). And I know that there are tons of you out there who do the SAME exact thing! Because let’s face it, I’m not going to rush home from dinner out to catch The Vampire Diaries on the night it actually plays. But one of these days when I’m bored and Netflix recommends it I may just be bored enough to ACTUALLY check out season 1 episode 1, and like a can of pringles, once you start you just can’t stop.

So, for now, I am unfortunately brainwashed into the curiosity of discovering who killed Allison on pretty Little Liars and who the hell A is. But hopefully Game of Thrones does not become a regrettable choice (my older brother promises it won’t be and he is usually correct, after all he did warn me against PLL and I didn’t listen).

Now it is bed time for me and little Clarence (my brothers adorable pup). Hope you all had a good evening and enjoyed this post, if any of you have any topics in particular you want me to write about please feel free to let me know and I would be more than happy to share my opinions/advice on whatever you want to read about 🙂
